EIT Climate-KIC Hub SLovakia

Slovakia has become another country joining the EIT Climate-KIC family. EIT Climate-KIC is a Knowledge and Innovation community aiming to accelerate the transition to a sustainable zero-carbon economy and help society to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Civitta Slovakia got the privilege to manage the newly established Slovak Climate-KIC Hub which is composed of Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava Self-governing Region, Green Foundation and GA Drilling. The partners have already had their first meeting where they identified the collective vision for the consortium and committed to formulate an ambitious plan for the future.

The consortium partners agreed that climate change needs to be made an urgent issue which has to be tackled inclusively, collaboratively and with implementation of the best innovations and technologies. The Hub aims to accelerate the transition towards ecologically-conscious economy by engaging the stakeholders representing different layers of the ecosystem from public authorities and business to academia and research.

In particular, the Hub will build a greater awareness of climate change and understanding of the climate change urgency across the society as well as facilitate creation of sustainable regions within Slovakia and cities with smart districts serving as the urban eco-centers. Additionally, the Hub will organize piloting projects and accelerator programs to spark the passion for a healthy climate.
